by Marcus Lukman on I saw Simian Mobile Disco here last night. Their show was fantastic and the club's sound system was absolutely perfect. The light show was also mind-blowing. My issue was the fact the I spent OVER ONE HOUR WAITING IN LINE to get into the club. Granted, I arrived at 11pm, at peak entry time to see Simian, but with tickets pre-bought online, I thought they could do better. They had a paper system where they were checking names off of a list of internet ticket buyers and giving out carnival style tickets. What the hell is the barcode for then if not to efficiently scan it? They clearly have little experience dealing with high-volume shows. I've heard that for undersold events, however, this isn't an issue.
by Nelson Gueits on Los Angeles has its share of comedy clubs, but this is my favorite one. Its not the biggest club, which is the one reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, but this is the nicest one. The staff and people that hang out here are a step above the other clubs. Also, its far enough off the strip to keep the tourists away. The club has a twitter and facebook page for great last minute discounts, and their food is a lot better than you would think. The best thing about the Improv is the comedians that come here. I have been here on nights where "A" class comics have came in to try out their new material. These comics normally charging $50+ come in for a fraction of that price, if not for free. This is a great place to bring a date, and you never know who is going to jump on stage. Parking, they have valet but I always find street parking.
by J. V. on I went here for the first time last night for a friend's birthday party. I am not a huge karaoke fan, so I was pretty skeptical. HOWEVER...it was an absolute BLAST! The pomegrante wine is awesome. It's$19.99, but it's great. The Hite beer is really good too. I didn't have any food, but it looked and smelled good. The private rooms are great too. Perfect for a party of 10-15. The English song selection could be a little bit better, but overall good. I would DEFINITELY return! Also...Valet Parking is $2. Can't beat that!
