by Karen F. on So Steven Starr kinda-sorta redid the bar at the back of the old Midtown 2 Diner and now it's the "Ranstead Room" - a pricey , dimly-lit speakeasy with fresh ingredients and $12 drinks. Think Candied Ginger and Granny Smith Apples. Fun. Still got the old tufted red booths - just polished up a bit with the cracks repaired. Grab dinner at El Rey and then walk ALL THE WAY AROUND (Darn it, just open the door!) to Ranstead. Oh - and they don't even open until 7 PM - so NO happy hour here.
