I've only gone here once to see my then pal Conor Oberst play with his band Bright Eyes and party with them backstage after the show. This place is GORGEOUS. The acoustics are great. The seating rocks. It's very clean. The backstage area is fun with a few little rooms to split off in, and the staff is super nice. The band had no idea I was coming and I had no VIP pass but the security guard still let me go let the guys know I was there. He watched me until the guys said it was cool to let me in, so it's not like they're just gonna let anybody back there, but I would've missed out on a fun party if he'd been a typical power hungry security guard and hadn't let me through. Staff is kick ass, the architecture is amazing...the only reason it isn't 5 stars is because this place is in the GHETTO and I feared for my life leaving the venue at 3am and walking the 3 blocks back to the parking lot I'd left my car in.

I'm reviewing the nightclub. I won 2 tickets to see Kardinal Offishal, thru 94.9FM on July 4th, 2008, so I decided that I would go. I just moved to San Francisco with my husband at the end of April 2008, so this was our first time out at a club. It was a pretty nice size, and the view was beautiful, but it was definitely crowded with all sorts of different people, and the neighborhood is definitely sketchy. Thankfully there were 4 of us, so we just stuck together and ended up leaving shortly after midnight. They played great music, but I never did get to see Kardinal Offishal because it was never announced where he would be, so that's why we left early. Ah well! Overall it's an okay place... they say that they enforce a dress code, but from what I saw, they don't really.

Well mixed Manhattan. Kinda cozy. The guy singing and playing piano was a nice touch. He invited this old guy up to sing in Italian and we almost cried. Minus two stars for the tackiness though. The guy on the piano had a cheesy disco ball. The roman columns, etc.
