by Renee B. on Hmm went here for the 1st time last night and had loads of fun and the place was quite...interesting. One room to the left of the entrance(guitar room) was playing hip hop while the one straight ahead was techno and had some dancers. At first, we were like...uh wtf is this and after a few drinks, we just went with the flow. lol. The music in the guitar room was SHITTY. Uh thong song, Janet Jackson, Im on a boat.....seriously? And then they had a bikini contest which was kinda odd. There was also some filming taking place. It was just a whole load of mess. My friends and I got on the bar and danced and got some shots for doing that. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars just for that freaking music and the randomness going on. It was a good mixed crowd and the bathrooms were clean. I will not go back again because I dont like to pay for parking. o_0 (I paid 10).
by Anton Macksoud on 1 negative star because of the music I have been going to Marquee every Tuesday since I moved to NYC and I absolutely love this place (I go with a promoter, so lines, getting in, fees, and drinks are never an issue)! The place itself is beautiful; great interior design and sound systems. The wait staff is excellent; last Tuesday I asked the waiter if he had any chocolate and within a minute I had a handful of candy! (Chocolate is very important to me!) The strawberries are always fresh too! Quick service; we never run out of vodka or juice/ice/etc. and table is always cleared quickly. My only compaints are: the music/DJ in the back room downstairs always sucks (althought I enjoy the main room); the stamp they put on your hands easily washes off and one night I couldn't get back in the room because my stamp was gone (of course I had my coat and purse- with cell- at the table...that was fun); the music is so loud that it's very difficult to talk and sometimes hurts my ears; and I'm not impressed by the bathroom attendant b/c the stalls always seem to be a mess. Overall I think it's a great place and one of my favorites; definately a once a week thing for me. The occasional celebrity doesn't hurt either; the other night we had a table next to Derek Jeter (hot!), Victoria Beckham, and Cassie. Fun place definately something to check out every once in a while.
