I just had the worst Greek restaurant experience ever with my boyfriend and our two daughters. Almost ten minutes after arriving, our server came to our table to take our drink orders. We ordered two chocolate milks, a coke and a water. A full five minutes after that another server came to our table and took our drink orders again. Another full five minutes after that we finally received our drinks from the first server and got to place our dinner order. For an appetizer, we ordered the calamari because the associated picture on the menu depicted it as fresh calamari as opposed to those frozen flash fried rings you buy at the supermarket. Sadly, when we received said appetizer approximately 17 minutes later, it was the latter. Not to mention over fried and therefore tough. Another full twenty minutes after that, we finally received our entrees and finally got to request refills for our drinks which had been empty for a good ten minutes. What should have been a simple staple, the gyro, was ridiculously over seasoned - I felt like I was chewing meat textured salt - and there were more tomatoes inside the bread than anything else. The Greek potatoes that accompanied the gyro were just plain sour. Not much to be said for the chicken fingers the girls had, standard out of the freezer and into the frying oil pieces of meat. The fries tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour or so. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops and while they came out cooked significantly more than the medium he had requested, he said they tasted alright. All in all, the substandard service and terrible food is enough reason for me to regret having spent money in this establishment tonight and is certainly reason enough to never go back. For delicious Greek food, albeit in a slightly overwhelming setting, try Taverna Plaka over on Cheshire Bridge instead.

I really do love this place - chill and low-key, and not at all pretentious. The mussels look (& smell) wonderful, although I'm being naughty by reviewing even though I haven't probably eaten there in a decade. I recall their burger was excellent, though. I did find it annoying that their bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. I'll leave it at that.
