4 stars for Silk City Thursdays! Excellent fries, thai spicy wings, and mac and cheese (although I think their cheese combination has been a little off lately). Those are my usuals when I dine here with friends that haven't been to Silk before. For myself, I usually opt for the specials of the night, and they have yet to fail me. Country fried steak and waffles, veal cheek tacos, and Italian sausage burgers are some of the creative items that have been featured. Don't forget about their full bar and numerous beer choices! Silk City is also my favorite spot to party on Thursdays in the Philly/AC area. Mo Money No Problems w/ DJ Sammy Slice always produces a great time. Where else can you jam to the Lion King theme?!

It is a bit annoying they strongly enforce the 1 gal 1 guy policy and try to make you pay as much as possible to get in. The crowd is pretty I have to say and it is mostly white. I came here for a friend's birthday party and luckily got some promoters to get us in for free. The drinks here nonetheless, are terribly overpriced at $18 for a cocktail! They have 3 rooms, the front that has bigger dance floor and plays house and the back that plays a mix of hip hop, alternative rock, and top floor plays whatever lol Overall a good venue with decent music and beautiful crowd but the policy was a pain in the ass and honestly it was so dimly lit that you probably won't even see if the girls/guys are hot or not.

OK, I don't understand the negative reviews for The Varsity. This place knocked me out! I went for two chili dogs, fries and a frosted orange. Sooo good! I'll admit that this is a not a high brow gourmet scene. Anyone who expects that from the world's largest drive-in restaurant might want to reevaluate their expectations. But this place is fun, with a sense of history, while being up to date (even with free wi-fi!) Have I had better chili dogs? Sure. But the whole experience at The Varsity is very cool.
