by M B. on Maggiano's serves up heavy, fat-laden, Americanized Italian food in a vast, Cheesecake Factory-style setting, but with dark wood paneling instead of Las Vegas faux. Practically nothing on the menu isn't deep-fried, smothered in cream sauce, or buried under layers of cheese, and everything is served in portions that will ensure obesity in America will continue to surge for the foreseeable future. My soup was so oily I couldn't finish it, the fried zucchini was mostly crust, and the flat bread was greasy. Given the crowds that go there, it's clear that many, many people like this kind of thing. And that's cool. But it's just not my cup of tea. There are just way too many wonderful local restaurants I'd prefer to patronize with my going-out-to-eat dollars. Anyway, I expect I'll be back there again soon for a corporate employee appreciation holiday party or after-conference schmoze-n-dinner, but at least that will be on someone else's dime. I'll just scrape off the cream sauce and blot the grease as best I can, and make do. Oh, food aside, I will say that our waiters were super nice - helpful, attentive, and even slightly flirty. Glad to see they hired good people.
by Agustin Crislip on Another one of my favorites! If there was one thing to describe Tenjune...it would be models! Everywhere! The entire club is packed with models or could-be models. I disagree with the last comment; I feel that the doormen and staff are particularly friendly. Right before I hit coatcheck the guy always asks how I'm doing and tells me to have a good night, and last time a bouncer politely told me to put out my cigarette and was still sweet to me the rest of the night The first time I went there we did run out of vodka for about 10 minutes, but every other time it's been great. Very attentative waitstaff. Last time when I had to venture outside to smoke a cancer stick, I was surprised at the line outside; definitely a tough one to get into and I would never try going without a promoter. Overall: outstanding music for everyone! Wild mix of songs, but something for everyone. Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful people, but gets pretty packed during peak hours (especially the dance floor). Occasional celebrity performances (Flo Rida last time); fun place for sure. Long flight of stairs... be careful!
