by Kate F. on came here for a weekend lunch ... the outdoor space is fantastic! it would be an awesome party space ... and the food was good ... however, service was terrible! the house wasn't packed in the least, but this 1 shared appetizer and turkey/hamburger lunch took 2 hours!!! sorry guys, its far too long for a lunch ... we wont be back.
by Eric M. on Vessel seems like your typical flavor-of-the-month sort of place. It has all the making of a 'hot club' in that it tries to embody the nonsense that is portrayed in the movies as being 'hot clubs.' There is loud dance/rap music, soft lighting, a mix of urban and chic (as in brick walls and loungy chairs), and there are lots of people who have dressed up to look at other people who have dressed up. On the bright side, the place was pretty full, but there wasn't a line, the doorman was quite nice and didn't go through the usual power trip doormen seem to go through, and there was no cover. Also, people seemed to be enjoying themselves and dancing and schmoozing, which is better than some clubs. Ordering only beer, I can't comment on the acrylic glasses that seem so often complained about, but the beer was ok (how can you screw up beer?). The bathrooms were interesting, with the crashing waves music in the background and the coed counters. It was a nice bit of kitch, but kind of unfortunate that the major standout of this place is the fact the bathroom is unique. All in all, it was a fine place to go and become tone deaf while people watching. Most lounges are and this one is no different. With that said, I can't really sing its praises (besides the fact there was no line or cover, which was great) since it isn't my type of place and it didn't really excel beyond other clubs of its kind. Worth stopping by if you're in the area, potentially not worth making a dedicated trip to if you're not.
