by M K. on For myself, this was a splurge. While I like good food and good restaurants I many times find the best restaurants to be the ones that aren't so 'trendy'. This restaurant is definitely trendy and has been for years. Like others have stated, you are paying for the ambiance. The Buddha is amazing as well as the lighting and configuration of the place. While I only ate here once, I found the service to be pretty good but the music was too loud and the food was definitely overpriced. I am willing to pay top notch for a great meal but it has to be great and accompanied by great service and ambiance. Like others, we waited over an hour to get our reserved table. Two drinks at the bar came to nearly 40.00 with tip (should give an idea of the prices). Our dinners were really good. We started with appetizers had a main and then desert. All said and done the bill came to about 200.00. Would I go there again? Probably not. Why? The value is not there plus it is not the type of place I would go to for a nightly meal. it is a one-off place and while I lived in New York City at the time I went there, I would probably forego the place eve if just visiting the city.
by Caroline W. on Boo. Bad experience- and by bad experience I mean I started a rateclubs account just to review this place! I'm not that into clubs in the first place, but got tricked into going. While the decor was pretty awesome, and the vibe was not so bad- the owner totally sucked. Why do people who own clubs feel like they rule the world?? I got in totally fine but then when a friend came to meet up with my group (a guy) the owner was a total D-bag saying that there were too many guys and just enough people- typical. Meanwhile, as I was talking to him, a couple walked right in. I ended up handing my drink to the owner (who did not want to take it but i threatened to drop it on the floor- go me!) and leaving. On my way out I told everyone in line that the bar sucked. Onieal's, around the corner was just as fun and they let EVERYONE in!
