by tracy c. on I went last night for the first time. I was very happy to discover a new beer-Bitburger and a great 80s-90s cover band. It was a good time, price was right too. I suggest going there to anyone looking for a place with a little bit of everything!
by Teressa Golk on I've been in LA a while and I like going to all the new places that open up simply to see how much they have changed. My House used to be Garden of Eden and the layout of the club hasn't changed much but its definitely been classed up a bunch. It's been expanded to accommodate more people and the decor is really contemporary and beautiful. That is the only good thing I can say about this place... well, for a Saturday night anyway. I know that different promoters do different nights and I had the misfortune of going on a one particular weekend night (which I wont mention but, will NEVER do again). First let me say that the DJ SUCKED. I could have mixed a smoother set then the goof ball at the turntables (and I know NOTHING about being a DJ)... every song was a TOTAL mismatch from the one prior to it so much so that the DJ would sometimes stop the entire music flow to start another song!!! I felt as if I were at a high school prom and that this was the DJ's first gig. EVERYONE in there looked as they they had just turned 18 and the girl to guy ration was WACK. 10-15 girls per guy, great for the guys, HORRIBLE for the girls. Good job promoter dude! Pack the place with 18 year old girls and let verrrry few guys in so you have your pick of the litter! Seriously, it was a JOKE. Oh and one last thing (this is important)... At the upstairs bar if you use a credit or bank card to order a drink, be prepared to order a few. There's a $25 minimum but of course they don't tell you that until AFTER they have run your card AND poured your drink. That's a sheister move if you ask me... So rateclubsers remember, there are most likely REALLY good nights at My House but the night I went it SUCKED!!
