by Marilyn Baggs on After doing some research on new venues for Thursdays, I was a little excited to try out Icon. Ohhhh boy, was I sooo moded about this place. ...It was hella empty. This place is already small, and you would think the 25 people would make it look like an event was going on....but nope. Out of the 25, 15 of em were girls screaming when a song came on. I didn't appreciate the attitude and elbowing. We kept taking three steps to the side, but they somehow managed to find their way in front of us, which is awkward....considering the place was hella empty... Big ups to the DJ for playing some good jams, tho. But minus points for the fact that he kept talking thru the music and for being a smart ass when my roomie requested a song. Okay, okay, so she asked for him to play the Electric Slide song, but damn, no need to get offended. It's not like there was even a crowd to impress?? +1 for not having to pay cover +1 for half off drinks before 11 Needless to say, I'm crossing off this venue on my list. If it wasn't for good company, I woulda cut out earlier than 12:30am.
