by Meredith S. on My boyfriend and I hit up Cafe Lift for breakfast on Saturday and had a wonderful experience! The service was very good: quick to take our order and get us coffee and water, checked on us a couple times after the food was delivered and quite friendly. The food was excellent! We split the canoli french toast and the special smoked salmon frittata. Everything was delicious, including the breakfast potatoes that came with the frittata. You know when you have a meal that's so delicious you just can't bare to leave food on the plate? This was one of those meals. We both left in a food coma because we tried to get as much of that delicious food in our bellies before leaving. Plan to return soon and highly recommend!!
by Mia L. on 2.14.10: Whose house? My house of course. So I only came here because I was bored. Dragged my two friends along, we have already been drinking at Shakas. It was a really cold night and it was Valentines Day. Who goes clubbing on Vday? I guess me. Ha ha. I haven't stood in a line in ages, this was the first, and I have to say I hate it. Now I know how people (mainly guys) feel just standing there and waiting for nothing. After half hour we finally got inside. It was crowded and the music was decent. I was pleasantly surprised with the place. The place was built to the sense that it is a house with multiple rooms. As you step in you can walk to either the left or right. I walked to the right got up some stairs and I was right in front of the bar. OooO drinks please, but not yet. I was meeting up with some friends and they were outside. Interestingly enough the outside was a decent size with a good size bar. Its not like the dinky small ones where they don't have tap water or sodas. Anyhow got my drink and there was some guy grilling up some hotdogs. Food and drinks? Wow cannot get better than this. The place is very posh and casual like at the same time. I wanted to check out the place so we went back inside and went up another flight of fancy stairs. Upstairs was suppose to be the atmosphere of a bedroom. How do I know? Well there was practically a king size bed against the wall for people to sit on and hang. Also in this room, there was a bathtub. Nice. Ha ha. They do not miss out on the important stuff. Do not forget that there is a bar up here too. Overall, this place is not too Shabby! I like it! The music was great and the environment was chill and fun. Maybe I'll come back here again.
by Nieves Salvo on Slide? Mmm-yeah, I've been to Slide. A coupla dames and I hit up this joint one night lookin' for good times. We wired a few gents to meet us there with the moonshine. "Slide. STOP. Wear yer dancin' shoes. STOP. Watch out for coppers. STOP." The kid on the jukebox was hitting a jag-time tune. A coupla boys were whoopin' it up at the bar, giving us dames the eye. The martinis were dry, and the Bar Keep even drier. They charged us more than the usual pinch of the poke for the booze; you'd think it was prohibition or somethin'! We danced like it was 1933 and hit the bottle hard. A speakeasy with a name - but mainly 'cause there weren't many choices, see?
