by Joslyn Betti on on my first visit to the Brookside i was amazed by their mediocrity and didn't plan on going back, however after they reopened as Brookside 2 I decided to give them another chance. It was, in short, awful. The food was bland and greasy the upshot being that by the time it arrived at our table it had gone cold. The decor brought to mind a prison with neon beer signs and TV screens, almost all of which were turned off. The real cherry on the sundae was the service, what it lacked in speed it made up for in rudeness. Would i go back? I'd sooner have bowel surgery in the woods with a stick
by Davida Peatman on One of the few gay clubs in SF that does a decent job of keeping the party drugs OUT of the damn club. There are many sly tricks to steer the public image of a club away from drugs, and if only other party venues in the city would follow suit, the lesbian/gay community here could start shaking that ugly stigma of substance abuse. I know, I know... almost a futile effort, but oh well! The crowd is a natural slice of our gay scene, considerably well-behaved. But the cover is awfully expensive to justify coming in here after two o'clock, and for the LGBT nuts who refuse to stop partying, this about the only place to end up after 2 A.M.!
