by Kaitlin W. on Let's get one thing correct about me- I LOVE to dance dance dance dance! I am not a club hopping type of gal however when the opportunity is propositioned to me- I cave. The Griffin was visited on one of those nights. Good music, not too crowded were the pros. The cons begin with the amount of creepy guys (cue thick eastern European accent and unwanted manhandling) and bridge and tunnel girls there for an 18th bday- or so it looked like. Overall I had a good time dancing with my friends and drinking a lot of champagne. 1 star- They played a good mix of hip hop AND house, 2 stars- Not too crowded which is always a problem- enough room to dance and sit if your footsies need a rest. 3 stars- Eh- I'm feeling good about life! Also the chandeliers were stunning!
by Ellan Lamanna on I have to strongly disagree with another review. There is nothing sleek, upscale, or speakeasy about this spot. However it does have good music, a non-pretentious crowd, and people that want to dance and have fun. They have a mandatory coat check, even if you have a table, and the line for that got so long the lady said she wasn't taking anyone else and to come back later. A few people at one table were fistpumping so hard they fell off the couch and hurt themselves. Not kidding. Stay clear of the fistpumpers and hold onto your bags tight- my new camera and phone were stolen by the end of the night.
