Way too minimalist, from the decor, to the service, to the menu. The rolling benches make it easier to build a seat for large groups. The appetizers... (more)

You haven't checked out Mission if you haven't been to El Rio. This place was famous for their outdoor patio in the back.  It was spacious, decently clean and not too loud.  There were some tables and chairs as well as stools.  They've got colored light bulbs and heaters outside to warm you up physically and spiritually.   All the outdoor fixture was made of wood-which somehow made me feel like being in some old cowboy movie. Inside: just like regular dive bar with a pretty narrow walkway, a long bar, a pool table and a shuffle board...not to mention expected subpar restroom.  However, drinks were cheap ($1 PBR!)....mostly beers though.

I'm shocked by the number of bad reviews for this restaurant. If you're looking for typical Chinese in the U.S. -- cheap, greasy, medium- to poor-quality ingredients -- look elsewhere. This is upscale Chinese with higher-quality ingredients. Typical cheap Chinese food is great but so is this. They also have a large, tasty drink menu. It's good. I recommend it and so do lots of other people. But it's going to cost more than $20 and you're not going to get your salt/grease fix. If you're not bound by those restrictions, you'll be glad you added it to your repertoire. For Chinese, it deserves 5 stars.
