I crashed a USC law school night at H.Wood, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of my review on most nights. One of the best parts of my experience at H.Wood was the absence of offensive physical contact between male patrons and my non-consenting ass or waist. Such groping seems to be part of the Hollywood experience, and if H.Wood keeps it classy without relying on an all-student clientele, kudos. The venue was decent, with dance floors and bars on two levels. There was no cover and drinks were $10 apiece, which is fair by Hollywood standards. The club lacked the glamor and epic decor of other nearby venues, but I didn't miss it much. If I were to pay for bottle service somewhere, I'd probably choose a little more glitz. I do wonder why there were goons in black suits waving flashlights on the dance floor - I think they were security men, but they seemed to be annoying more than they were enforcing. Overall, I had a good time here, and my night got even better when I walked to 25 Degrees across the street. I kind of doubt I'll make it back to H.Wood, but I didn't hate the place.

Ok so this place used to be our starting point when we would go out at night, sometimes we wouldn't end up going anywhere else. They have the best mojitos in Austin. Not too sweet, and a nice sugar cane stick to chew on came in it. Well that was a few years ago. Last few times I went the drinks have become a bit inconsistent. The mojitos would be too sweet or not sweet enough, and I think they stopped the sugar cane sticks, the last few times I didn't have any. Now I'm a bartender and I am just as guilty as not being as consistent every once and awhile, but lately it's been off. The last time we went, service was a kind of slow and my friend's mojito had a torn up receipt floating in it. Ive never eaten here, so this is based solely on the bar. I do though recommend stopping in for a mojito, because if it is a day where it is made good, it is awesome.
