by angela o. on ok, I'm a biased lady, but not toooo biased. let's just say i want this place to succeed. i wanted it to succeed before it opened, but i knew and hated the fact that the nearby Park-Glendale cross-street megachurch had protested the bar's opening on the grounds that it might have once been a popular gang-affiliated spot (Lupitas, yes). I know a bit about the backstory of the discrimination Lz has faced against her neighbors running for political office. sometimes they were on her side and other times they were not. i didn't know, however, that liz had opened her dream bar, until yesterday. and i live, like, around the corner. this is going to present a problem for me. why? it's freaking fabulous. i love beer. they have better beer than anywhere i could drive to after, say, three beers. i REALLY love wine. they have darned good wine. nowhere near as good of wine as city sip, but good enough that, if i had friends over and ran out of wine, we could just stumble over there. damn you, 1692835842. damn you, liz, with your well-chosen location, wine, beer, music. music is important, i guess. people like that. i think it's funny when your cats scare the living crap out of me because they run across my face along the bar when i'm trying to talk to one of the many hot guys at your new successful bar. also your bathrooms are clean, and you have yummy peanuts to munch on, and delicious-looking vegan brownies and stuff. dammit. i was trying to move out of the area.
by Filiberto Leighton on Dante's is a great place to bring a date. The atmosphere is wonderful as is the decor. It is ship themed and they have nice live jazz music playing while you are enjoying your food. The food is just OK. People usually go there for their Fondue, which I like. But the price to portion size is not the greatest as you pay a lot and you do not get a lot. They do have very good bread though. I couldn't believe how good the Honey Wheat bread was. But considering the service level, which is great, and the atmosphere, it still makes a great place for a special event or date. This is really what you are paying for.
