by Mariana Damour on Any club that gives me crap at the door just annoys me and Hiro is one of them. I got on the guest list (Velvet List) and it was supposed to be free for ladies and strangely the door lady told me it is NOT. So I had to pay $15 to get in. She made it seem like such a big favor and I should kiss her ass. The music is here is mostly hip hop with mix of house in between. It is annoying though they raised the volume so high that it almost pierced through my ears! I want loud music but i don't need health-endangering volume! Drinks here are regular NYC club price. I would probably go to Park, which is one block down on the 10th Ave to get the same mix of crowd, decent music, and FREE admission all night long.
by Burma Whitteker on All I can say, this place rocks. 1. 3 stories including two outdoor patios 2. No cover 3. Causal but many people still dress to impress 4. DJ plays top 40 - the crowd went wild when Lets Dance played 5. Drinks are moderately priced. Ie. Two shots of goose and red bull = $24 6. Mixed crowd - predominately Asians 7. It gets really crowded on Saturday but since the place is so big it really doesn't matter. I wish SF's clubs/lounges were more like New York. All in all, The Park is a perfect place for a night on a town with your friends.
by John K. on Wait...hold it...hold it...a little more...hold it... This is where my gf and I first got enough alcohol in us to hook up for the first time. Score for the breeders! Seriously - I love this place - we had fun there the first time but have gone back many times since then. Love the bar, the piano, the amazing (think - BEYOND BELIEF in front of your eyes opera) singers. Also fun to toy with the tourists who have heard of a local scene. It's one of my favorite places to bring out-of-towners if I think they can deal with the...reality of our real world. Favorites - Chocolate martini, key lime martini...actually I don't think I've had a bad drink here. If you're reading this and you haven't been, I totally urge you to visit. Get a drink, hang out at the bar, and slowly work your way towards the piano in the back. A friend recently asked me of my favorite bar in SF - I think this has to be it.
