Hmmm... so I finally came here for an evening of food and entertainment by the "ladies" of Asia SF. On a Saturday night, I believe they have multiply seatings, while we were waiting for our table to be ready, the host sent us downstairs to the dancefloor. I think it's mandatory on a Saturday night, but we had their prix fixe menu.... the "Gold" dinner. During parts of the dinner, the "ladies" performed on the bar. Not gonna lie, it was entertaining. I think dinner only would've cost ~$40-60, but everybody had multiple drinks, so the total cost ended up being ~$85/pp. After the dinner/entertainment was over, one of the owners came up to our table and gave my "friend" and i a drink coupon for downstairs... he came back a few minutes later with another coupon for another friend that was there when we were talking. The owner was uber nice. All in all, with the miracles of modern science and the developments of modern medicine, we were provided quite an entertaining evening.

I was here Saturday night for the first time, and I gotta say the place rocks. No big sign, no nothing... if it weren't for the gated off smoking area and the big bouncers outside, you can barely tell it's a club (ok, the pounding house music helps). Walk in to a GREAT sound system commanding your heartbeat to follow the bass line of whatever great track the DJ is spinning. Plenty of bartenders (and bar space) so there's no trouble getting drinks. Cheap drinks too so prepare for some craziness. HUGE dancefloor with plenty of fog and lots of screens; great visual stimulation that goes along great with the music. Makes me want to do illegal things.. *sigh*. The second room is a lot smaller and intimate, but still wasnt crowded. I like that you can have a bumping club with two rooms, but still have plenty of "personal" space. After a day at the union street fair I couldnt handle too much crowdedness. All in all a great time. SUPER chill people, great music, and an awesome venue. I'll definately be back.

I'm rather surprised at the amount of positive attention Temple is getting. As other reviewers have noted, its hard to talk apples to apples when comparing the respective high-end club spaces of San Francisco with those of LA, Miami, New York. I wasn't expecting Cielo in NY, or Pacha in Ibiza, or Womb in Tokyo, at least as far as design budgets are concerned. And any underground club kid will tell you that even a heaping pile of cash won't guarantee a great vibe. There was nothing organic about the feel of this place - It's forced, derivative. The finishes are much cheaper than I'd expected. Their roster of resident dj's is underdeveloped. And they're clearly still having operational issues - Faucets in bathrooms overflowing for hours, slow POS systems at the bar, guest list miscommunications. Even as I'm writing this, their website is down. The glossy pictures belie an unpolished overall presentation, top to bottom. They just haven't pulled it off.
