Talk about some pimpadocious karaoke action! We need to get a Pandora in Honolulu stat! My friend Connie arranged for about 30 of us to have a karaoke / bachelorette party at Pandora and it was definitely the right choice. The decor at Pandora can only be described as "P Diddy style karaoke heaven." They have a ton of rooms and each one has a different theme. It looks like the liquor sponsors pimped them out as most of them are liquor themed. I thought the Crown Royal room with the throne was a nice touch. Everyone was oohing and aahing over the Hello Kitty room and it's a good thing my daughter wasn't there or she would have wanted her bedroom to be a Hello Kitty room as well. There's a full bar at Pandora as well as an open stage area if you don't want to rent a room. The karaoke is all run by a touch screen panel on the wall and our room had 4-5 big TVs playing all sorts of fun videos. We were the only ones there for the evening so it was super fun and a girl's karaoke night is always enjoyable. I look forward to visiting Pandora once again when I return to San Francisco!

I always loved the SOBs. vibrant atmosphere with pretty good food and amazing music. unfortunately, last Friday (March 12th 2010) we wanted to celebrate our work colleagues Birthday and we decided to do it at SOBs. It was a party of 8 people with 2 guys and 6 women (I'm giving this info cause I know it is really important for "some" clubs to have more women than men- so I thought we had favorable one at this point). We showed up at the door at exactly 6:58pm cause we knew there is no cover for females before 7pm. unfortunately we were informed that the sign (piece of paper on the window) was changed and we are not eligible for no-cover entrance. I tried to talk to hostess and explain her that we are pretty sizable party and we are here for BDay celebration. Hostess directed us to super rude cashier who was "drunk" with power that she can "rule" us out. She said its 4 min after 7pm and she will not let us in. I mentioned that we are discussing this matter for over 6 min now and we actually WERE at the door before 7pm and that we are 8people and we are here to celebrate BDay. nothing helped. So we decided to go to another place and spend our money there. I work for hospitality business for almost 10 years so there is quick math for SOBs: cover charge: 8*$15= $120 we left (so $0) no cover charge: (cost of: 6 females*15=$90), earnings of: 8 people celebrating Bday: 2 drinks per hour, 5 hours (7pm-12am), average 10 dol per drink: 2*5*8*$10=$800. AT LEAST. sales $800-$90 (no cover)=$710. I'm not including the food which planned to purchase. The bottom line is that we really were excited to celebrate at SOBs. The Bday girl was hugely disappointed and it was sort of heart wrenching when we decided to leave. But this practice was really uncalled for and is unacceptable in high competition market. Just to add: it was pouring outside at that time. nonetheless SOBs staff was heartless and told us to leave.
