Went to Genki last night to celebrate my best friend's engagement.  Staff was very knowledgeable about Sake and helped me select the right bottle (the sparkling... highly recommend it!).  The food was amazing.  Tuna tataki with ponzu was perfectly seared and just a tad spicy.  Fried lobster was crazy.  There was live music (one dude with a guitar).  I was expecting some cheesy covers but was pleasantly surprised as buddy busted out everything from The Fray to The Rolling Stones and it all sounded good.  We had a great time and will DEFINITELY be returning.  If you like Sushi, check this place out!!

overhyped seems to be the buzzword around here, but it's actually true. i heard alot about this place before going last year, but when i got there, i was thoroughly unimpressed. yes they have beds, but it's really not as cool as you might think. the group i was with decided to get a bottle so we actually got to sit on them. if this is everyone's idea of VIP, id rather just stay home. the idea of drinking while lying down is cool in theory, but in actuality it's not very fun. also the place is pretty expensive. if you go out in the city alot it may not seem too different to you, but even alot of NYC people seem to think it's overpriced. if youre used to going out in jersey, it's definitely overpriced. i wouldnt recommend going, although i'd give them a 1.5 because the decor is at least nice.

The beats were bumpin' while the dancers were poppin'. If you are in the know, in terms of hip-hop freestyle dancing, then you were at the MiddleSex lounge last night. It was a free flow, all love, for all dancers from all types of backgrounds. You have master b-boys tearin' up the floor (Losst Unnown crew) to newbies learning the ropes of hip-hop dancing. Everyone is welcomed and the more you participate, the more enthusiastic claps and shout-outs you get. It's a great place to learn, enjoy and love freestyle hip-hop. I completely forgot we were in the heart of MIT and thought I was back at an underground hip-hop joint back home. Oh, the drinks are priced moderately (vodka tonic @$7) and the bartenders definitely mastered their craft. They get you in and out of the bar area in a couple of minutes. Well done fellas. Great spot for a Thursday night! Check it...check it out...Yo! :)
