White Windmill is a Korean bakery with plenty of seating for surfing the net, meeting up with friends or reading the paper. Ambiance: When you enter, there are probably more than 20 tables or booths for seating. Free wifi. Decent number of outlets to plug in your computer. Really nice ambiance. Can get a little crowded at times. Food: A huge selection of Korean fare. A little on the pricey side, although I have found that to be pretty common compared to other Asian food (i.e. Chinese or Vietnamese bakeries). They usually have samples for you to try. The green tea cookies were really good as are some of the mocha pastries. Abundance of bean paste-filled snacks for you to try. Good selection of cakes for sale too. I think they even make wedding cakes. Drinks: Full coffee bar. I've had a vanilla latte in the past which was standard. They also have some bubble teas (although there are better, cheaper alternatives elsewhere). TIP: 1/2 price on pastries after 10pm, but note that a lot of the good stuff is gone by then. If you are hanging out along the depths of Buford Highway, definitely worth a stop by to get some Korean snacks or get some computer work done.

LA is my home, and Hollywood is where my heart is (after dark, of course), but even I can't get into the hype just for the sake of hype. It isn't the attitude that bothers me so much, although I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of people caught up in the buzz over MyHouse. You know there are going to be rude bouncers, unnecessarily entitled individuals, and far too many look-at-me look-at-me types at any new(ish) Hollywood hotspot, but everything was out of control. I was actually shocked at how insane the demand was to get it and can't even imagine the hell it must be like to get in without bottle service. Every club goes through a cycle, and some are much better at it than others. I do see MyHouse being around as the "it" place for some time to come, but I'll avoid it more often than not. It still feels like Garden of Eden to me, and if I hadn't been there for a friend's birthday last time I probably wouldn't have had any fun. Then again perhaps my standards for fun are simply different from what MyHouse appeals to. On the plus side, MyHouse has the cheapest parking I know of in Hollywood: $5 in the structure next to it.
