OKay the whole skinny on this place is as follows... Who knows what the building was...... Or for that matter the existing neighborhood it is in.  New owner / Designer of this place took very good strides, and extremely tasteful precision on developing a true nightclub for the Park Slope area.  It's Clean, up-to-date, and Spacious. How can i explain this club...  3 floors of different style of house/club music, artfully, and tasteful seating arrangements.  Colored spotlights on domed mirrors, glisten the walls with shimmering beauty. touches of artistic artifacts can be found tucked away in corners. NYC got it's Miami Nikki Beach.  Elite parties can be separated with entire levels, along with the layout providing VIP entrance, this could be the next celebrity hangout.!!!...  Met with owner and manager, and these are persons whom can be spoken to..  Not some promoted club promoter with own agenda. Night I was there there was a modest crowd, NO cover, 3/4 stocked bar (always room for a few reserve bottles) security at the doors, and much excitement of the opening.  Dress up, not required, but suggested.

Ok the lowdown. OVERALL FEELING TOWARD CLUB: 4 stars because.... I've been coming to 181 for about 6 years now...and I do remember the time when this place was comparable to LA nightclubs. From the flashy decor to the sexy clientele....that was 6 years ago. Gradually with the economy dwindling, I can see how 181 has "dwindled" in clientele and its facade. Its changed. So I can see how its not the clubs fault for entertaining this type of clientele. Promoting on various radio stations and using various promoters does NOT help. Today there is no white sofas and white fluffy curtains and pink lights...although I was back there last week and it seems like they are bring that back which made me kinda happy.  But the clientele that 181 has dwindled low to serve and accommodate is still there. Phaze that out! I still come here to hang out with friends on certain party nights. I come here cause there are a couple of chill bartenders that I remember from way back when I first started and they know me by name. (only 2 of them are left now though -- damn! you two better stay or else I'm not coming back! jk) BATHROOM: 1 star But I would give 181 a 1 star for the bathrooms. The mens bathroom is a mess, I could only imagine what the ladies room looks like. I would suggests giving them a face-lift with some fresh paint and some stuff to make the bathroom smell clean. CUP SIZE Also, maybe because everyone is bitching about the dixie cup plastic cups. 181 should just get bigger cups for their drinks. Or at least better quality plastic cups.
