I really wanted to like Spice Market in Atlanta as much as the NYC location, but just couldn't forgive the horrendous experience. Started the evening by telling the waitress that three of us had been before but one of our friends dining with us had not. This Spice Market lacked everything from the fresh washcloths in the beginning, to the scented jars that are presented in the New York location. The food was not as fresh tasting and I was presented with uncooked rice. No apology, no explanation, just extremely undercooked white rice. What did they do? They brought me brown rice, because that was all that was cooked! How is that even acceptable in an "Asian" inspired restaurant? Two friends tried the tasting menu from Restaurant week and unless Spice Market stands for so much spice that the rest of taste buds will not work, they accomplished that. The best part of the meal was the appetizers, the tempura calamari and chicken samosas. The samosas were soggy however, perhaps because they were left under the heat lamp too long? I don't know why but the experience was regrettable and even the drinks here didn't taste as great. The signature Ginger Margarita was extremely watered down and the taste of tequila disappeared after the first sip. Avoid this place as Atlanta has MUCH better dining options.

Never been before tonight (Monday), and it was a great time. Perfect venue for a unique event: The Moth. It was a spoken-word storytelling contest that was hosted by some actors/monologists of note. A decent-sized stage able to accomodate the show. The place is big but still a comfy warehouse vibe takes hold. Can see how this would be a great place for dancing, etc. Nice long bar, excellent cocktail service. All-around laidback but with a pulse to it. Entertaining bouncer out front direct from 'Eastern Promises,' minus the menace. Parking not too heinous...we got there early for the event and had plenty to choose from in the lot off Hwood. ($10).
