Bumpin.... Old school hip-hop from 8th grade and high school. God, I'm getting old, but I digress. Nice, beautiful people of all persuasion. Crazy/good time atmosphere. This is a place for me. Nice but small club, so on a Saturday night, it's gets packed. You're touching their junk but they're touching yours too. But that's part of the fun. Bumping & grinding, sweating, and dancing with random peeps. It's definitely a place where you can let loose, go crazy, and acted a fool. But in a fun way. Nice bartenders with decent price. Door guy was nice enough to let one of the boys in for free ($5) though his birthday was Monday. No minimums on card. I'm all about places like this. Good music, good crowd, and crazy, or should I say good times to be had. If you're doing your thing in the LES, go here.

Checked out Avalon last night for the first time. Drinks are about what you'd expect: Spendy and average. But this is Hollywood so you know what you're getting yourself into. No surprises there. There are a number of bars and dance floors with 1 main room for the headlining DJ and a side room with a second dj spinning. The main room at Avalon is stunningly gorgeous. Great lighting, beautiful restoration, and an elevated catwalk down the center of the dance floor. There was a 944 party and a Far East Movement show going on last night so it was packed (more so than a normal saturday I'm told) with people. They didn't seem to know how to dance very well and there were a lot of poser-ish hollywood scenester types. If you're not bothered by that (I thought it was funny) and you want to see some great DJ Talent, definitely go here.

i'm sorry zahav, i had to take off one star for oddness. as everyone has said... food is fantastic. my favorites? turkish hummus and the salatim. get like, 14 orders of these. the haloumi is awesome. so is the fried cauliflower. ok, pretty much everything in the dairy and appetizer column is amazing. so why the one star off? i made the mistake of going to butcher and singer for lunch (who could resist a 5.95 burger?)...so i was pretty darn full. but my eyes were bigger than my stomach (as it usually tends to happen)...so i got the tasting menu. and i was so full that i didn't finish my branzino. and this causes the manager to come up to my table and ask me if there was anything wrong with the food. now, as sweet as this was, my pseudo-jewish guilt kicked in, and all i wanted to do was to tell her to bring me back my unfinished fish and i would eat it all. so yes. eat all your food.
