We stopped at National Mechanics after dinner on a Friday night. The building was cool, outside and in. Their drink specials and variety were solid. The DJ was playing a sweet mix of indie and 80s dance music. There were too many people in plaid flannel shirts for my liking, but it wasn't that hard to push them out of the way and order my libation. Overall, a less-lame spot to party in Old City.

I went to the Bossa Nova Brunch on Sunday August 2, 2009. Price fixed 3 course menu for $26.99 per person plus tax and gratuity and open sangria bar. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance. The way the tables were set including the candles was very nice. It was laid back because it was 12pm on a Sunday. I liked that the restaurant was not crowded and had a small intimate feel. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be but its nice. Wherever you sat you had a good view of the live Bossa Nova band. Now on to the food! The basket of bread on the table was not good because many pieces were super hard making it inedible. For my starter I had the yogurt parfait. It was served in a champagne flute and topped with a tropical fruit compote & coconut almond granola. I enjoyed the topping, but when I got to the actual yogurt that was by itself it was not so good. My friend had the baby green tossed salad, which she said was good and just your standard salad. For my entree there were so many tempting choices but I had the Banana Stuffed French Toast which was so good. It was served with syrup and grilled ham. The sweetness of the syrup on the french toast mixed with the saltiness of the ham tasted so good together! My friend had the barbecue salmon which I was thinking about getting. She loved it. I tried some of hers and loved it too. It was so tender and tasted great. The salmon was served with orange salsa and corn arepa. The corn arepa was not good and was very chewy. For dessert I had the caramel custard flan which was good, if you are a fan of flan. I don't really like flan but got it because it was a choice between that or the empanadas with chocolate and banana. My friend got the empanadas and I tried some of hers it was good and tasted like my french toast. All in all it was nice. The waiters were friendly and attentive. They also kept my glasses of sangria and water full. The constant refills of sangria was great! Bossa Nova Band was great too!

When: Friday (8/7/09) where: Infusion Guest list: 10.00 before 11pm, after is 20.00. Dress code: Guys-collard shirts, no baggy jeans, and dress shoes preferred. Credit Card Min: I think it is 20.00 So this was my second time here at infusion and i honestly like this club/lounge because it draws in the more chic, classy, and sophisticated crowd. Most of the people here seem like they were young professionals, thus, there wasn't any "ghetto" type people because of the GQ attire. The venue Infusion is kind of like a mini version of tao in Vegas. Has the Asian decor feel to it and makes you feel like your in a really high end club, which it is. The bouncers here are really cool. Especially the guys at the door, they don't give you BS about anything and they are very nice guys and professional. The drinks are a bit expensive but this is located in union square so i can see why it is more expensive for many of the tourists. The bartenders are quick to serve. The reason why i gave this 4 stars because the music could have been better. But i will definitely come back.
