by Lori T. on not sure why people eat here- i know it has history but man, the hot dogs are terrible! hot dogs should be grilled, not boiled in water. i get the kitchy "what'll you have?" thing but could the food actually taste good? i guess it's like Turner Field - to serve a huge amt of people with low prices, you have to bring down the quality of food. i wish this wasn't so. i never take out of towners here. it's cheap, crappy food for college kids on a budget going to a game to get trashed or already trashed and don't care what they eat. if the food tasted good, i'd recomend it. otherwise, just drive by it and point it out to people and eat lunch/dinner somewhere else. try it once and see what you think
by Aunny D. on I'm between 3 and 4 stars on this one. I just can't decide which one to go with because I know for a fact that I have always had the best time at this venue - not because of the venue itself, or the entertainment but the people I was with. This weekend was no exception. The last time I remember being at Dragonfly was a while back, on Halloween actually, when I (a Hooters girl) made out with a guy (an Italian version of Flavor Flav) all night thinking I would never see him ever again in my life, only to bump into him at the Halloween party I attending that following weekend. Can you say awkward? So this weekend I went to support my homies, the Angel City Derby Girls by attending their variety show at Dragonfly. Burlesque, comedy and booze. Now if that ain't a winning combination I don't know what is. Dragonfly is just as I remember it to be. Great bar (and bartenders, I might add), smallish stage for live acts, lots of booth space, and a killer outdoor smoking patio with lots of standing and sitting room and an outdoor cash only bar. The Dragonfly hosts a lot of variety shows of this sort, as well as a lot of cover bands, so it draws a real eclectic sort. A stand-out this weekend was the all important...err....there is no way to be PC about this...gay drug dealer. Or as we liked to call him, Mr. Hashish Guy. He was a complex fellow who didn't like gay boys, but had a thing for the hot hetero boys we were with. He had quite possibly the most bizarre sales pitch I've ever heard and gave it to anyone willing to listen. He also had no qualms about telling every man in our group how beautiful they were. Good times.
