by Tim M. on This bar is so poorly run from the top down I don't know how it stays in business. I have been three times: -first time with about 6 other dudes and paid about 60 dollars each to cut the line and get a table (showed up around 11pm on a Friday, no line) and got about 2 drinks out of the "VIP" table and bottle service each we then got kicked out of our table about an hour later because we were no longer ordering bottles -Second time my friend had a free pass for two (or else I wouldn't have been there), at the end of the night I realized I had left my ID and credit card with an open tab, I asked the bouncers to let me retrieve them, and was shoved away from their carpet, wouldn't let me speak to a manager and threatened to get me arrested -The next night I show up to retrieve my ID and card, they wouldn't let me speak to a manager again, and forced me to go downstairs after waiting in line for over an hour, eventually me and my party go into Royale, the e-mail girl at the top of the stairs led me to a manager who finally gave me back my stuff The thing is I called all day Saturday on the Royale answering machine trying desperately just to talk to a human being, tried about 10 of the extension numbers they had to offer, trying the manager, general manager, event planner etc. NOTHING, and when I show up Saturday night to tell my dilemma I am forced to wait in line to get into the club that had been holding my things hostage after such awful lack of service or hospitality they had to offer over the phone and the night before. Enough blabbing about my personal sob story, Inside is very nice, two floors comfortable seats around edges balcony etc., the only thing is they are filled with skimpy dress wearing jersey shore wanna be girls, and their counterpart dudes decked out in ed hardy, I don't mind that though, and I don't mind the rude bartenders or the ridiculous prices or long waits at the bar.... the reason this place gets 1 star is because of the bouncers outside (inside the bouncers are awful but bouncers inside clubs are usually college kids and young guys who need money) the bouncers outside are so bad and so unaccommodating I don't know why such a high percentage of people go through with entering the club. The two times I went by choice there was no line, the third night I needed to get my stuff, in an attempt to make the line longer they force people to go to Roxy or get out of line, one in particular who wore a dark green army color jacket would not make eye contact or listen to any complaints and after several times of me asking to speak to the manager threatened to throw me out. I hope you can get past the venting and see that this place is truly not worth it, and I hope you don't encounter any problems that I did because it is a nightmare to fix, it shouldn't have been that hard but it was the poorly run company from the top to bottom that led it to be.

I know it's not the best place in the world to see a show (for that one must cross the bridge to The Greek) but for music bar's it's really up there. CDN is hardly ever "packed" & the crowd is reliably cool. The beer on tap is decent & they have a good bottle selection. What I really love though is that while they do feature music there, it still feels to me very much like a bar. I've been to the Rickshaw, Independant, Mezzanine & others & while I enjoy shows there too I feel like I'm back in my home town going to a local Ska show 10 years ago when I go to these other places. In addition, it's just a few doors down from Lucky 13, which is a very respectable dive bar in it's own right. Good Jukebox, pool table, Patio for my smoker mates. I'm taking a point off though because I was at CDN last week & the pool table is now gone... WTF?
