A night of singing your heart out, drinking, and schmoozing with your friends - it works. However, if most of your part is primarily English-speaking, it can get a little cumbersome finding songs for the playlist. Browsing is difficult, and there is no book catalog to look through. You pretty much need to come up with the artist or song on your own, then see if they have it. (Try various spellings.) They did not have Sweet Caroline or Don't Stop Believing...minus 1 star right there! American karaoke staples...MIA! The cheapest drinking choice was bottle service (weird), so if you've got more than 5 people, definitely inquire. The staff was pleasant and friendly, and we were easily able to move to a bigger private room when we got crowded. I wouldn't go for the atmosphere of the regular bar area though, it was pretty dead on Fall Back Saturday night.

Fun place on a Saturday night with plenty of cheap garage parking or FREE valet. How's that for a switch? We arrived around 11:30 and had a short wait, maybe 15 minutes. Headed straight for the back bar as someone's review suggested and got a drink right away as opposed to crowding in at the main center bar. Room was already fairly crowded with a pretty good mixture of ages, races and male-to-female ratio. I hate to resort to comparing it to Halo but it's hard not to. For my buck, T&G has much better music and I like that the on-screen videos are the actual songs being played whereas at Halo, it's just a mish mash of unrelated visuals. The music is also a better blend here; at least in the front-of-house. The "official" dance floor in the back room spins a different blend of music (same artists usually but not in the same order) so you kind of get a more trendy vibe out front and a fun, grittier vibe in the back. I wasn't really thrilled with the DJ in the back when I arrived but I understand the guy before him was better, sorry I missed it. But, that said, it's where I had the most fun dancing and stayed until closing time. My only issue with the place was some drink pricing inconsistency. My husband and I ordered drinks at the same bar from the same bartender. He ordered his first and then I did mine. The bartender didn't know we were together (something we sometimes do intentionally). The very same drink (Texas Margarita) cost my husband $7 and me $8. So I said to the guy, did you just make that price up? He says with an attempt at a chuckle, "nah, we can't just make up prices..." Yeah right! Then he says, the next one will be $7, I let let it go and joked back, at least it's getting cheaper. OK, now, my second Texas from the same bar (different bartender) was $10, WTF? I asked him about this and he said some b.s. about the computer pricing out 1800 Silver at $10. I enjoyed keeping my tip on this one. I could see if I wanted Patron but hello, 1800 is 1800. My husband's second was still $7!! So, maybe they charge guys more up-front to get in and compensate by charging less for drinks and vice versa for women. Anyway, great place for fun and I want to go check out some of the other nights, just gotta figure out what's going on with the whole drink pricing scheme.

So, I started this review almost seven months ago. Unfortunately, I never finished the review and now the owner/chef is on Top Chef. Anyway, the food is fantastic - fresh and well balanced. I would recommend giving the place a try. I'd describe more, but my memory has lapsed -- the upstairs room is great for large parties, though. My only warning is that if you go in a big group and get really drunk - watch out for the server playing a bit of chicanery with the bill and her tips.. I woke up the next morning to realize that when out of my group of 25 or so everyone was putting in money - we would write - put $60 or put $80 on this card. We should have covered the bill, tip, and then some. Unfortunately, the server was putting part of that amount as tip. For example, instead of billing $60 - she would put $48 as payment and $12 as tip. Needless to say, when the final bill came and we were well short (fortunately, my gf covered what was left and left an additional 20-25% tip not realizing what happened.) If you are following this story so far or are not following it -- just remember that I said to double check the bill in large groups - kind of a downer the next day. If it wasn't for the tip tricks, I would give the restaurant 4 1/2 or a 5 stars.
