No pretension No big line No micro-mini skirts Just good music, well drinks and good vibes This is a cool place to go if you want to get your dance on. Jeans and sneaks is perfectly fine because let's face it, how can you really get down and funky on the dance floor, in 6 inch, "come fck me heels"??

I stopped in on Sunday for an impromptu brunch for the first time. As I walked through the front door and through two heavy curtains, I wasn't sure what to expect - I felt like I was entering either a circus tent or a belly dancer lounge or an empty stage, bright lights, and an audience. Nope, just an open layout w/ lots of wooden and metal-laden furniture and a very long bar. The decor is warm, comfortable, and open. There wasn't a crowd so we were seated very quickly. An apple rested on a container of coarse salt as a center piece - I wanted to take a bite of it and leave it for the next customer ;). On to the food: Complimentary beignets were a bit hard and chewy and nothing like Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. Yet, I can't turn down fried dough coated in powdered sugar. My coffee was the best brew I've had in a while, and I was able to drink it black as I prefer. I ordered the Pork Grillades - pan-seared pork over grits, topped w/ 2 fried eggs and a tomato-based sauce. Not exactly what I expected, and I wouldn't repeat it. My lady ordered the open shrimp burger, which was delicious. The service was quick and friendly, and at first it was TOO friendly. When it was slow our waitress and the manager hovered over us w/ water refills and repeatedly asked if we needed anything. Of course not you were just here 2 minutes ago! Maybe my ADHD-driven people watching confused them into thinking I wanted something. I won't hold it against them though, as that is better than negligent service. I'll definitely come back and check out the downstairs, the nice-looking bar, and the interesting dinner menu. It seems to be hit or miss w/ the food, but I appreciate a restaurant that boasts supporting locally-grown foods.
