My House is not as overly packed and crawling with people as it was the opening night (when I had a vip table upstairs,) but it is still a good dependable venue worth checking out. On my bff's bday, things went terribly awry at another venue. So I got on the old iphone, and made one call to get us the entire vip room upstairs. Done. We were treated very well, walked in, our every wish accomodated. I just couldn't rave about how awesome staff was in comparison to the shoddy and shady treatment received at a "new" "hotspot" (aka they reupholstered things and got a new promoter in there to attract the high end clientele again.) My House cleaned up the mess that the last spot had made on the bday party express. And because of this, they've earned repeat business from many people who spend top dollar when they go out. Kudos for knowing what customer service is and how to put us back on the right party path. Thank you for being so patient, for calming me down (as the organizer of the evening's party festivities,) and for giving us a truly special evening. I'll definitely be back. For those of you unfamiliar with My House,it's the old Garden of Eden with a serious remodel. The upstairs features an insane vip table bed and a few smaller tables. Outside is smoking and cabanas. The bar is reminiscent of a kitchen with an island of sorts that they serve and charge from. And the dance floor is small, but surrounded with tables. The decor is lovely and the vibe is fun fun fun.

I will readily admit that my coolness factor is nowhere near approaching off-the-charts. I am okay with that. So long as you know that I know this, esp as you read my review. I'm 27, but inside, I think I'm approaching 40. Except isn't 40 the new 20? So maybe I'm 57 inside, yes, that's more like it. But a friend of mine was visiting with his girlfriend from the Philippines, and he doesn't know Austin, and she's all into clubbing it up in Makati + Manila, the hottest cities in the PH (hee, hot, get it?) Normally the hubs & I are into chill places: again, I like coffee shops. He likes, say, the Drafthouse; we usually hit up Lavaca Street Bar, Little Woodrow's downtown, easy-going places like this. Except when I was in grad school a few years ago -- and then me & my girls would hit up Spill like nobody's business. But man, Spill was *dead* last Friday night, perhaps b/c all the college kids are on spring break. Maybe 6 people there. And so somehow, Pure sucked us in. And it was perfect, I'm not gonna lie. We all dug the all white decor, illuminated with a sort of blue-white everywhere. I liked that there were nothing but booths on the 1st floor, with cutouts everywhere to cut down on the creepiness-factor. And the dancefloor on the 3rd floor, with the music -- man, we were all over that. Um, not quite as graphically as some of the other dancers. And yes, all the guys staring at all of us kinda creeped me out too. But overall -- thank goodness for Pure, I felt like it saved me from looking like a total loser. Now we did bounce out about half an hour or 40 mins after getting in, and again, it wasn't packed, there was no cover, and we weren't super dressed up + we all got in. So for sure, 4 stars.
