The Kress is the most un-LA club in LA. You know what I mean; most LA clubs make you wait no matter how hot you are, and don't care you're on the guest list. The Kress....WAY different story! Went to The Kress to celebrate a birthday. We had heard that there was an open bar from 10-11pm...free booze? YES PLEASE. HINT: BIG HINT! Go to http://www.wantickets.comand get on the guest list!! We walked RIGHT IN and was told to go to the roof! Upon arriving on the roof, we discovered the free booze was in the basement. Now, navigating the stairs is pretty easy for a guy with dress shoes, but for the ladies with their high heelz, I could understand it would be a bit difficult. The basement is kinda meh, but the drinks were STRONG and the bartender was generous with the free drinks even after the 11pm cutoff. Back to the roof we went where we stayed the entire evening! The place is big enough to have a ton of people, but intimate enough to have small groups! The DJ kept the beats pumpin' all night and the party people dancin' away! Drinks were a tad steep, but strong enough! Few things to know: 1. http://www.wantickets.com 2. Guys - Don't dress like a bro, thug, or gangsta. Oh, no baseball caps too...put on a pair of nice button down shirt, NICE jeans, and some dress shoes. 3. The entrance to the club is in the back...where Valet parking is too! $15 bucks. I found a good spot for 8 bucks on the same block. The Kress is a great time and will most definitely be going back!

Out of all the places we went, this one was probably the most "rough"... It was a little on the hood side with quite a few youngsters. I think we also missed the WHITE memo because there was a good amount of people wearing white in that bitch! I guess they felt the need to wear white before Labor Day ended?? Regardless of the rougher crowd, I liked this place. Again, good music and spacious layout. I think anything outside of San Jose will rank higher in my book! It was nice to get out of the Bay and be in a different environment. Never once did we have to wait more than 5 minutes to get in (helps that all my girls are cute) - so it was nice to just walk in, not have to deal with the crazy crowd, and go straight to the bar to grab a drink. GOOD TIMES in Lala Land, but it also confirmed that my ass is old and over the whole club scene!

Went at maybe 9:30 on a Friday, not crowded, real nice place to sit and have a beer & chat. there was live music, just a really talented guy and his guitar, but not so loud we couldn't hang out. Beer selection was great, they offer tasters so I could try the 8 kinds of Shiner they have (whatever, it was a lot) Cheap! Got three beers for $7.00. DJ came on afterwards, amazing, unfortunately he was on loan from Dallas. But it was good music, mostly hip hop, old skool, nothing crazy. I suppose you could dance there, it was a small casual place, probably better off just chillin. But enough room to shake it a little bit if you so desired. Left just before 11, still wasn't crowded. Will definitely go back!
