The renovated Fado is a very nice if not so unique place. Interior is spacious and clean, with all the generic Irish touches, and there's a cool rooftop patio (vista had been lacking, offering only construction sites to look at, and the barren Buckhead streets are without pedestrians; but it has potential). Love the entrance area and stairs setup. Beer selections are okay; prices on the high side. This is a really popular place for many years with big crowds of a certain makeup packed in on weekend nights. Depends on what you like this could be quite appealing, or not so much. It's like David K. and Kathleen said, a little too "poser-friendly" and generic. Not pretentious though.. I would describe it as feeling like you are in a big house party thrown by a Seann William Scott character, with all the appropriate elements, but maybe the people are 5 years older with more money. Fun, in a certain way. I wouldn't mind meeting someone here. I'll almost never *plan* to go here for any particular reason. A visitor with only a weekend to spare in Atlanta, would find more character and especially better food/drinks elsewhere.

I have a serious love-hate relationship with Midnight Rodeo. I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who goes only on Thursday and Friday nights. Everything from the overcrowded dance floor to cheap, watered down drinks tells me to stay far away. The doors open early, but the crowds don't pile in until 11PM or later. I've been broadsided and whacked in the face more than once because there's just NO room to move on the dance floor. You might be drawn to the 50-cent wells or whatever, but the drinks are so weak and watered-down that I need at least 5-6 to feel even the slightest buzz. I'm a lightweight too. Not cool. On the other hand, I like.. no, I LOVE to two-step, and few places around Austin offer free cover on Thursday nights (F, 21+) and a sizable dance floor. If you get there early enough, say 9PM, you can have lots of room to move. The DJ puts on popular and upbeat one-step and two-step country songs. Don't bother coming for the non-country tunes though; it's usually a mash of sleazy, bad pop. Live music nights are also not as crowded, and the bands have been really enjoyable from my experiences. If you love country dancin' as much as I do, you'll probably put up with Midnight Rodeo but wonder what you were thinking when another person tramples over your feet.
