by Kurt Cappucci on After a UYE Thirsty Thursday, I was ready to dance. In search of a place within walking distance, we had 2 choices. Middle East or Middlesex. Middle East was playing 60s music so we ended up at Middlesex. Thursday night and the place was busy. Was it because this place is cool or because there is no other dance options near by? I think the later... I wasn't impressed with Middlesex. The crowd was odd, but we are in Cambridge so thats not surprising. The music was some sort of "electronic". I like techno/electronic/house..whatever you want to call it. But this music was just mehhh. Lets put it this way, it didnt make me want to shake my ass. Which is the official scale of how good the music is. I made the best of it and enjoyed the night with my fellow rateclubsers who btw get 4 stars for being up for dancing after thirsty thursday. :)
by Jon Snethen on The chicken tacos were dry roasted Chicken on tortillas. It took them 55 minutes to get our to go order. ( They lost the ticket). We got home and it was all wrong. This place is bush league- they need to go to El Taco or Taqueria del Sol to learn how to make tacos. The owner wouldn't talk to us and the manager was short with us and kept asking us "what do you want me to do?" ( get our food, refund our order, for starters). Disappointing. I wanted it to be good because I live in the neighborhood. Maybe they'll get the kinks worked out soon. The world needs another crappy faux Mexican place like it needs another hole in its head. Better than having The Grape there, but I was kind of hoping for a place that actually served good food.
by Juan G. on Okay I saw four negative reviews for Pure Nightclub. It is true that most clubgoers like to go out for the drinks, no cover, and dress like they are going to the supermarket. But the reason for that is because you have to admit, this is a college town. Pure may not have been the best nightclub to go dancing in the world, but it was a great relief from all the bars full of smelly drunks and loud rock music. Sometimes a club has to have a cover charge to prevent overfilling with children and the atmosphere was slightly more upscale which made me feel better about wearing my nice suit out for a change. The music can improve with more dance and freestyle although it was not that bad.
