visit - saturday, 11/21/09 went with a bunch of friends saturday.. no trouble getting in..(went in thru the back) but my friend who was coordinating our entry forgot to ask the promoter dude for the wristbands for the roof. she tried going back down to the promoter, but the guy at the steps outside wouldn't let her down the steps. ha. apparently, each employee has their own areas that they're in charge of and have no control of anything else. lame. but whatever, i told her forget it. we could just party at the basement where they were playing better music compared to the 3rd floor. soo... had everyone go down to the basement.. got there and they had some guy on stage, "Ben Harris", performing.. let me just say that he can really party on stage. his music was crazy! like LMFAO times 100 status. haha. wild. -crowd was pretty diverse.. -drinks were good. were they pricey? not so sure, cause my friends were buying my drinks. =) -downstairs dancefloor a good size.. but it was getting a bit crowded.. -upstairs dancefloor a little smaller than downstairs, but they were playing house/techno when we were up there. anyway.. on to the most important part of the night. AFTER the club. lol. walked out to head to the car.. there was a guy makin' them dirty dogs.. i've been living in LA ALL my life, partying EVERY weekend, but have NEVER gotten a dirty dog. Sooooo my drunk ass said.. time to try a damn dirty dog! lol. so i bought my 3 friends some dirty dogs.. but woops, right when i was gonna pay some cops shined a bright ass light from the car at us... lol. couldn't pay the guy.. but we had our dirty dogs! these guys are smart though. the dirty dog dude had a buddy and had him meet us to pay for the dogs. lol! my friends were like, let's goo! i'm like noooo... we need to pay the guy! that's saaad! but yeah, those dirty dogs were good! where can i write a review on these dirty dogs? haha. "dirty dogs. -- location: outside of every club in hollywood between 10pm-230am" haha. ok ok. but they were good! i'll give them 5 stars! but kress -- only gets 3 stars.

Oslo is a nice place around the corner from where I used to work. They have a big menu of numerous Asian dishes from various countries of origin as well as a sushi bar. I stopped in with a co-worker to have a peek as she got takeout sushi and returned the very next day to try it myself. As you know if you read this blog on any type of regular basis, I am a sushi fan. I'm not hugely picky which works for my wallet but I can indeed tell good from the merely mediocre. Oslo is very good indeed but not stellar. The prices are about what you would expect, a bit higher than my bargains in the burbs but not anything too out there by any means. The sushi chef is very nice and was more than happy to demonstrate for me as he made up my to go box. He works efficiently and tidily, as all good sushi chefs do. I was sad not to see knife work but I enjoyed myself at any rate. His fish was already beautifully sliced and he made quite nice tight rolls. I had the Oslo sushi combination B which features your choice of roll (spicy tuna, spicy white tuna, california or avocado and cucumber) plus 6 pieces of chef's choice nigiri sushi for 16.00. I added a salmon roll because I was starving. It made quite a lovely array. The spicy tuna was quite zesty, I liked the heat a lot. The salmon was fresh, rich and buttery and a perfect foil for the spice of the tuna. The nigiri was a solid combination including salmon, tuna and shrimp. I felt quite piggish but happy at any rate. They gave me plenty of wasabi, soy sauce and ginger with the requisite chopsticks, sending along a little cup for dipping, packing me off on my merry way. Very nice to go I must say. Now if they had better deals or a coupon I would be here all the time.

Ramscale is a unique event venue in the penthouse space of the old Bell Laboratories building in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village. From the huge windows and the over-sized patio, you can catch beautiful Hudson River sunsets and glimpses of how the well-to-do live since Bono and Nicole Kidman's buildings are just a few blocks away (trust me, I spent some time wishing I had some high-powered binoculars...) We hosted a launch event for a client here, and at first glimpse were kind of in awe of and surprised by the unique quality of the site and weren't sure it was what we wanted (since we booked it sight unseen.) We worked with the venue manager Rocky (the best,) to make it our own through A/V set ups, moving furniture and all of the visual fixins provided by our event company Events By Dano (see review,) and it really ended up being a fantastic place to work with. No stuffy ballroom, no crappy, dirty, overdone nightclub space; Ramscale provides you with something different and unique. Pros: - great space with great stories and history and a one-of-a-kind view of the Village and the Hudson - amazing management by Rocky; available for anything, ready for anything and gives the best tips on good food you can order in during your event set-up. Flexible, accommodating, laid-back and friendly but professional. - the place is completely white, so it serves as a blank canvas to bring in whatever colors you need whether for a corporate event or for a wedding or other special event. Cons: - It's a few blocks from the 2 closest subway stops and it's nearly impossible to catch a cab on the West Side Hwy following. Bottom line? Not the most convenient of places as compared to a venue in Midtown. - It can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
