This place was a bit disorganized. My friend had called to arrange a birthday gathering there and was told the burlesque show started at 9 when the actual club opened at 9:30. Then she was told she couldn't make reservations and had to physically talk to a waitress to get a tiny corner by the stage for her entire group. Shortly after we squeezed into the nook by the stage the same waitress came up to my friend with a $300 bar bill. We couldn't figure out why the same waitress who had seen us walk in and set us up thought we spent $300 in drinks in five minutes. The DJ spinning before the burlesque show was awful. Talk about "train-wrecking"...the guy couldn't beat match or fade a song in or out to save his life! Thankfully when I thought I couldn't take anymore, a sweet but brief burlesque show came on. Overall, I had a good time because I was with my friends, we made the most of our situation, and eventually another DJ came on.

Came here on a Sunday a couple weeks ago to see a burlesque show. My friend invited me and he had reserved a table inside near the stage-- which I believe you must pay for in advance as a substitute for the cover charge. The decor is kinda cool-- a little more run down than what the website suggests. The drinks are decently priced and pretty strong, but they weren't the best made cocktails. I had a gimlet that was way too limey. The burlesque show was pretty fun-- not the sexiest show I've seen, but that was probably due to the fact I was fixated on the runners in their tights. If there wasn't a cover charge, I would come back here again.

This place surprised me. I went there for lunch on a beautiful, sunny day, with a view of the dry docks and umbrellas to keep the direct sun off me and my book. Rapid, friendly service for my drink and then a recommendation to try the fish and chips---so I did---- Nice, fresh cod, quickly cooked in a thin batter (Not over battered, never seen a steam table, not oily) accompanied by "chips" (fries) served authentically with vinegar (but there was ketchup for those who prefer that). Piquant tartar sauce, a quick refill of my glass----I'll go again, because it was nice experience and better than expected food. 12/6/07 update: Still excellent and now I know why; some of the kitchen line staff had their training at, yes, no less than Gary Danko. You're getting pretty high skills at a discounted price. Eat here! (4 stars because, hey, gotta save something for Gary Danko's itself!)
