Came here on a Saturday night got in pretty quickly around 10:40. The place was pretty empty but I guess at that time it was still early. By 11pm there were more people, but still the place was pretty dead. It's a Saturday night! I would've given it 1 star, but because the decor was really pretty I added one more. My girls and I were so bored we left Wonderland.

I give this 3 1/2. You have to know the right people, willing to buy bottle service, or have a good grp of good looking people. We fortunately know a promoter. They basically had to call our name out and thats how we knew we could go in. Didn't matter a huge deal if you're on the list, you still have to wait and in this small grassy area. Once you get in, the fun begins. Bathroom sucks, not clean. I mean I know its a club and it gets messy, but was kind of gross. They have several levels, they have bars all over the place, tons of small hidden areas, nice outdoor area. Don't expect to move too much. The place gets extremely crowded. I had fun here, shame didnt get to dance much. Just be careful since there are so many small stairs here and there, when walking you could slip. The decor is nice, a little dark. Nothing too fantastic but nice. The drinks aren't too expensive, normal for hollywood around $10 a drink.

I'm gonna riff off here. I have a serious love hate relationship with the DNA. First, I know Jamie Zawinski decided to keep that name when he purchased the club back in 1999, but it's a seriously dumb and kind of disgusting name, I mean, consider the irony that there is black lights everywhere in this place . . . DNA . . . get it? I try not to think about it because I go to the DNA. Why? Because my favorite DJs often play there. I like Mighty a lot better, but they just won't play there anymore. For a while Miguel Migs was doing Salted at Mighty. It was so great. What happened? I don't know. People have been saying lately that house music is in a little bit of a lull . . . less crowds, etc. So maybe they just can't fill up the larger space in Mighty for financial reasons, I don't know, but I'm sure it probably has something to with money, like everything else. One of the cool things about DNA is the live webcasting. When I was sick and had to miss the first Petalpusher show, I watched it from my desk. Yeah, it wasn't the same, but at least I got to see a little bit of what was going on. Very cool. And very appropriate for an open source advocate club owner. Also, DNA's got street cred for the fact that Doc Martin used to be a door man there and that cool parties and cool DJs always gravitate to this place. I just wish that dance floor wasn't so damn TINY! Oh, and I love the hip hop dancer guys that are there sometimes. Those guys are the definition of cool.
