Cool place-never too crowded and the food is good. Plus, the beers are served quick-but that's it! The service is crap if you are seated at the tables, you are at the mercy of mediocre waitress's. UGH. They seems bothered to serve you and are too busy chatting it up with the bartender. Every time I don't sit at the Bar, I deal with bad service. !Sit at the bar!

3-4 stars, not sure yet. Came here for a friends b-day. Found a guy who could hook me up to this place and it worked out perfectly. We went straight to the head of the line and us girls got in fine and for free. Guys had to pay $20 to get in. All the guys couldnt get in unless they had girls or had to wait. Felt bad because all the guys ended up going somewhere else. Also valet is $20. The guy at the fron wasn't the nicest, he didn't even had the decency to look at me, I felt that it was kind of rude. Nevertheless, we got in. The place is not like any major club, such as Blvd. 3. This place is like being in a a large house. You walk in and there are chairs and couches to the right and bar to the left. The girl was really nice. The drinks werent bad at all. I got three drinks for about $30, not bad for the hollywood scene. Went on a Saturday night, still packed though there best nights are supposedly Fridays. They have two floors, upstairs is more of a lounge vibe, kind of dead. We stayed downstairs most of the time. The so-called dance floor wasn't very big. It was jammed with people. I guess I expected more of a dance type place since i had all this energy. But now I know. The people are nice. Some very nice people. LOL.... some girl, it was her bday, she was pretty drunk. She was saying "you are so pretty and don't take that the wrong way, im not a lesbian!" haha. Thought that was pretty hilarious. She was super nice, so funny. One guy spilled his entire drink in my shoe. I was like really? And his friend was saying how sorry he was for his drunk friend, I was like maybe he should stop drinking. He's like hes a good looking guy and thinks you are too. And I'm like great, he is good looking but he still obivously can't hold his alcohol. :) Mean? Well I don't like full drinks dumped into my shoe. So overall, we had a good night, many drunk and not so drunk memories! :)

Jessie St. is one of those alleys in SoMa that scares me during the daytime, but somehow transforms just enough with a crowd of party-goers to get me to put visions of crimes-to-be out of my head.  What finally brought me to Mezzanine -- on a Monday night of all times -- was a special event for the screening of Daft Punk's Electroma.  We were fortunate to have a small crowd of a few hundred people in a space designed for 1000; I don't think I'd want to be around on a weekend night to witness that capacity. What I liked most about this space was the sound system.  Even though I forgot to bring my earplugs with me, I found that the volume wasn't cranked up to a deafening level, unlike some large clubs I know (I'm talking about you, Ruby Skye!  You don't need to shake my eardrums apart from the inside to get me to hear the music, really). The dance-floor was really good for just that -- you'd be surprised how many places have floors that are seemingly undanceable -- and there were plenty of inviting couches that helped me give my feet a much needed break after utilizing said dance-floor. I didn't pay attention to exactly how many bars there were distributed around the space, but I counted no fewer than 6 bartenders.  They don't seem to accept credit cards (or at least the bartender I had didn't realize that the slot on the right-side of their touch-screen register is a card reader), and the drinks were a bit spotty.  Plastic cups?  Sure, there won't be any broken glass, but it's insulting for the price you're paying for drinks.
