by Jared L. on Braving rain and homicidal taxis, I walked a mile to try an al pastor taco (special, I do not believe they normally have al pastor) and a carne asada burrito. The pastor was brilliant; crisp outside, tender inside, perfect seasoning. The steak was good and juicy and crisp, but the seasoning lacked, as though it were dusted-on rather than marinated-in. This isn't to say it was bad, just that it didn't live up to the standard set by the al pastor. The burrito had other qualities however: chewy, lardy home-made tortilla, tasty rice (and if you don't like this rice please just go to chipotle and shut stupid mouth), and a good mix of pico, cheese, guac and cream. For the soma/gulch/fi-di burrito wasteland this is good news indeed. The nightclub itself, by day, is cold and unwelcoming. And at night it looks like a fine place to be stabbed. But when you compare this to the alternative of waiting in the rain outside a truck (the only other viable burrito option around here), the advantage of the location becomes apparent. Food alone would have easily rated 4 stars but for the startling omission of any type of salsa from my bag. The delicious chips went largely to waste, because I can only eat so many dry chips after such a feast. And for some reason my stash of Del Taco "Del Inferno" sauce just didn't cut it on the burrito.
by Tasia Piombino on Woah. Make your own Bloody Mary bar on Sundays. Awesome. Just awesome. The service was WAY overworked on the day that we went, but they were both nice (2 servers for the whole place), didn't snap at us when my friend asked 'can i have some water?' (That girl was busy... and who needs water when you have a bloody mary?!) The food was better than good, a little slow to come out, but I think we got there just before a MAD rush, and timing brunch for 5 people is tough. I would like to come and hang out at night some time, I hear it's cool. Had a decent beer list, and the alcohol to match. Will def go back when in Philadelphia next.
