by Adan Brockett on so we were walking on Polk Street and we were thinking about to our usual Thai Stop. i have been seeing a for a little while stating that Mayes is going to reopen. I was always wondering what this building was. Then I saw a special that said $1 Oysters between 5 and 6:30 and Drink Specials. So ofcourse I got suckered into this place. The Bartenders were really friendly. The guy went out of his way and introduced himself to us. The menu looked pretty good but the fact that they have $1 oysters you can't go wrong! They were very good (way better than that Hogs place in the Ferry Building where all the trendy people go to). I will definitely be back here!!
by Cole Corker on What has happened to Medjool? This place has turned into a joke! We came here last night, and it totally felt like we were at a rave surrounded by high school kids. HORRIBLE. The DJ was spinning terrible music, and the bouncers were just plain rude. After 10mins, we bolted. Definitely, not worth the $10 cover charge. Get your act together guys.
by Adam W. on Coming from San Francisco, it was hard finding a place and a venue in LA that had the REAL west coast deep house vibe that I was used to. I had always heard about Deep, and when I came, it was what I expected. Like SF, people came to this party to dance, period. There's plenty of room for everyone, it's easy to meet new peeps here, and anywhere with a cypher is rad~ : ) Great weekly DJs who are always into what they're doing. You'll never really see usual club drama here, no out of control drunks or crackheads. Love the huge outdoor area (with full bar!) out back, and the security folks are decent. Drinks are pricey tho, and I'm not a fan of the parking. $10 to self park? Uhhh....WHY? p.s - bring earplugs if you don't want to damage your hearing, it gets quite loud here.
