Greatest Bar is just awful. I've only been asked to leave a bar once in my life - and it was here, because my girlfriend was falling asleep on the couch from boredom. She wasn't - She was just sitting on the couch. But, if someone's falling asleep at 12:30 at your club, then maybe it sucks. We came in with a group of about 25 for a joint bachelor/bachelorette party. They lost our reservation at first and wouldn't let us in at all, and then when they did they tried to charge us a cover, which we had already paid. Totally uncoordinated when they knew we were coming. They eventually let us in without paying our cover twice, but once we were in the service was terrible, the place half-empty, and the staff generally just rude. Asking for a water with my drink was met with a smirk and the bartender just walked away and didn't serve us at first, despite being almost the only people in there and us being a large group together. Oh, and then when we sat on the couches we were asked to leave and that we needed to make an exit. So our group of 25 left after less than 30 minutes there, and moved on for the night. Overall pathetic. We could have done better almost anywhere in Boston.

I've heard so many mixed reviews about Jillian's that I finally had to go for myself. I met up with some fellow Red Sox fans at Jillian's for a Sunday evening game. It wasn't that crowded so it was nice to see how big the place was. They had a ton of tv screens everywhere so you could watch whatever game you wanted. I will say though if there is a BIG game on, it will take center stage on their biggest screen with no sound. Unfortunately you are stuck having to listen to the "musac" system they had. Since there was more than 12 of us, they were happy to give us our own little section/room with a flat screen and sound, and our own waitstaff person. It was really cool. He was pretty attentive and sensitive to not walk in front of the tv screen during a play. The room was great, it was like our own little living room, with some comfy chairs, a couch, some ottomans and some booths. Now other things that I liked about this place. The whole staff was really friendly. Not one person was not smiling or willing to help. The other thing I liked is the bathrooms were clean. There is nothing I hate more than a nasty bathroom. There was not toilet paper everywhere, the counters weren't soaked with water and it smelled nice. Not the smell of sewer, or heavy detergent or other unmentionable smells. For a sports bar it wasn't horrible for the food but definately not the best either. But really it's a sports bar, their focus is more of the experience than the food. I had ordered the salmon appetizer which I have to say was better than I had anticipated it to be. Then I ordered the paella for my entry that I split with a friend. It definately had all the characteristics/flavors of paeilla and it tasted good but the rice was a little undercooked. The dessert was had was great but really how can you screw up cookies and cream ice cream with Orea cookies crumbs on top. Yummy! Overall I liked Jillian's. I would go back to watch a game and throw back some beers. or maybe even play pool with some friends. I wouldn't go there for date night but I could see it being the place to go with a big bunch of friends.
