Went here on a Saturday with my husband and another couple. The four of us were given 2 menus. Awkward to deal with, but not unacceptable. We were served water once the entire visit and it took a good 10 minutes before it was delivered. The server graced us with her appearance about 15 minutes after being seated. Wine was good, just wish it was less $$ (but I should be honest, I'm happy with 3 buck chuck from Trader Joe's, so $9 per glass seems like a lot) Appetizers A.K.A. "small plates" calamari - decent. Sauce it was served with, not the greatest. Lettuce wraps awful. Served with bibb lettuce instead of iceberg, so it lacks the crisp. Our lettuce was warm, as if it had been left under the warmer before going out to serve. Warm = limp and gross when it comes to a lettuce wrap. Hummus: below par. Dry, lacked flavor and we got 5 1/2 pita chips with a cup of hummus. Not cool. For dinner one person ordered a pizza and salad. The small salad was larger than expected. Pizza was good. Thin crust, a lot of crust on the outside, light handed on toppings. Another person ordered pizza, no problem finishing it. The salmon was not that good. Supposed to be served atop a crab cake with asparagus. No asparagus - swiss chard or something else instead that was decent, but nobody told us there was no asparagus. Part of the reason the dish was ordered was for the asparagus. Crab cake was disqusting. Really. Awful. I've had thicker pancakes, first of all. Not sure if there was even crab in it. For sure it wasn't krab with a K because it was brown. Maybe it was canned tuna. Greasy, tasted "off". The salmon was okay, but the saffron cream sauce A) lacked any saffron flavor or color and B) congealed to a point that it was almost not edible. Very disappointing. Lobster mac and cheese was the last dish ordered. At first it was not delivered: the server was very apologetic and told a nice story about how the computer was miscalibrated so if she didn't hit the exact spot, it ordered paella instead of mac and cheese. Okay, we get it. Thank you for apologizing, but we just want our food. After the other people at the table had finished the mac and cheese was delivered. Very hot (in most areas), good texture, decent flavor. It lacked salt and there are no salt or pepper on the table. 4ish hunks of good-sized lobster in it which was decent but we expected smaller pieces evenly distributed. Artichoke hearts in the mac were, um, well, different. We like artichokes but the 1/2 hearts of them had no place in this dish. Long story short, we were disappointed. Not going back. Sorry.

Editing to add on 05/02/2007: Something has gone wrong. Don't know what but I won't be around long enough to find out. Something has gone terribly wrong. What is up with the people here? OK, so they are super-young. I can deal with that. But is there a reason it looks like they hand-picked the dorkiest, "could not dress right to save my life" kind of crowd to have them all gather at the same place???????????? Two nights - two different events, 3 weeks apart. Same awful crowd. They can't dance. They don't look good. And they apparently can't drink either, given the amount of vomiting boys and girls were doing here and there. Stay HOME, for crying out loud. It's really too bad................... ************************************************** ****************** I admit my rating is biased in that I, personally, have never had a bad time at Suede. I like it. Walking into this place makes me happy. What can I say? It's not the classiest club ever, and given that I usually clubbed in LA or NYC - it can't hold a candle to those clubs. HOWEVER, given the clubs in SF, it's not that bad. It's actually quite nice... The owners of the club were very generous but perhaps my friends' knowing them personally was the reason. I did have a small incident out front prior to going in that took a lot of trust from one of the owners - and he was extremely generous in ensuring I had a good time that night. I'd definitely recommend the bottle service and going to the VIP lounge if you can afford it. I think that is what I always enjoy about Suede - - you can do both the dancing, chitchatting and socializing in one location, in different "lounges". Music was good, the dancefloor is crowded but necessarily life-threatening, and all in all - a good time can be had here. This all, of course, depends on whether or not you go on the right night. That, however, applies to most anything, doesn't it?
