Just pay the cover charge and sit on the boat. Totally worth it. Especially if the jazz trio is playing. But make reservations in advance, it does get busy! I love the simplicity of the menu. I've been to The Melting Pot and the length of their menu overwhelmed me. So the short and sweet menu at Dante's is perfect. For me at least. I always get the cheese fondue and then the Mandarin, which is a plate of shrimp, beef, chicken, pork as well as vegetables. The meats are absolutely delicious even though they are just cooked in some oil. I love the variety and the dipping sauces are amazing with the different meats. The fondue pots are old school with flame burners and all, so be careful! Don't be a moron or go to the Melting Pot! And don't put the tomato in the oil...they explode! But really...I love the atmosphere. A restaurant this is a ship at dock in water with live alligators truly a one of a kind space. BUT, dress nicely. I've heard if Dante catches anyone under dressed, he'll kick them out. This is perhaps the best date restaurant I've been to. Ever. Especially if you are tucked in a corner on the boat or even on the dock. So romantic. I love it. And about the cover for sitting on the boat...the musician's have to get paid some how. And they are fantastic jazz musicians, so don't complain. It is definitely expensive but worth the $$$. Whether you're celebrating a birthday or just life, this is a great place to do it at!
