I was invited here for 1984 night on Thursday and had a great time! They played excellent music in both the front and the back. Tracy (coat girl) and Howie were both very cool and personable. Can't wait to check out their Tuesday nights! Highly recommended for a great night out!

Good mix of people, fun music (saw some crazy dancing from drunk chicks), great space. I had a nice night here. Didn't care too much for the cover charge but my friend was wearing shitty clothes (didn't know we'd be going out) and he still got in. Great depending on who's perspective.

A few weeks ago, I had nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon. So I took the Bart to the civic center station and just walked around. I ended up in the tenderloin...yuck. A while back, the city decided to rename this section of the city little Saigon. I was born in Saigon. It is nothing like the tenderloin. But I digress. I was walking down Larkin when the Phoenix Hotel appeared. It was a sunny afternoon, so I walked in and lo and behold there is a pool area with cabanas. There was also a convention of, I think, actuaries that day. I think they thought I was one of the group. So I lounged around the pool area, sipped a few margaritas, got a free massage from one of those corporate chair massage people, and sampled from the faux luau style buffet. It was fun. Overall, the Phoenix is akin to a Holiday Inn, except it's in SF. That makes it unique. Three stars.
