We heard all the warnings - how to order, etc. So overall, we got what we expected, the myth of Geno's. The surly service. The tasty bread. The hot cheese. Ultimately, it hit the spot. I am sure others can do a cheese-steak, but you don't get the show. It was worth the drive.
by Corinne R. on My friends and I had one of the worst nights of our lives here last night. It was truly shocking. We read the reviews in advance and made sure to have an equal guy to girl ratio. We had with about 20 people ready to spend all kinds of money at the bar and have a crazy good time for a birthday celebration. So, we got into line and they were carefully counting girl and guy quantities to be sure as they let some of us in. But then one of my friends made a comment about not being a "real" guy (b'c he's gay) and instantly the bouncer said "oh, you're too sensitive to come in here" and opened the rope for him to get out of line. It was incredible! Basically he was saying: because you are gay you can't come into this club. We tried to talk to his manager about it and he insisted the bouncer had done nothing wrong. Slide is run by homophobic assholes. Don't give them your money.
