My wife and i thought we'd catch some green beer and Irish grub on St. Pattie's without having to face the traffic downtown at the start of SXSW. We chose the local Sherlock''s outpost of the Colorado-Oklahoma-Texas chain on 183 and Burnet for lunch despite the ho-hum reviews of the place. The restaurant was full and the staff was inadequate for the numbers. Green beer flowed freely. You would think they would have brought on extra help for St. Pattie's since they bothered to print a special menu and bring out Guiness girls who put necklaces on the diners. We both chose Corned beef and Cabbage for $7.99. The food was nicely presented and had a generous serving for the price. However, they either had an unsupervised kid in the kitchen or an incompetent cook slicing the meat because it was cut with the grain, not against it. You don't have to be Irish in Texas to know how to cut brisket! As a result, the meat was tough and inexcusable. I liked the faux Brit atmosphere and would probably go back despite the bad experience. I avoid all the deep-fried fish, calimari, wings, tenders, etc. that are their unhealthy favorites, but there are a number of choices which are not bad.

too crowded, lots of asian girls rolling around in really short skirts despite it being like 10 degrees outside, expensive drinks, awkward/just plain bad dancing, poor music choices bouncing from lady gaga back to annoying techno, charged coat check, need i go on? maybe i was predisposed to dislike this place, but after I couldn't tell if i was being insulted or hit on by every guy who approached me i finally decided to leave and never.ever. return again.
