When I was gathering a group of friends to go to Middlesex the first time, one of the guys described it as a 'big dark box.' I suppose this is a fair description of the interior, as the space is truly not very large and the furniture and bar are positioned around the perimeter to give the dance floor more space. However, I definitely don't think that description does Middlesex justice. Middlesex isn't a particularly special place but the drinks are strong and you can definitely count on a good music selection. The only real downside is that because Middlesex is small and pretty popular the line starts early. Best to get here before 10:30 p.m. or the wait outside is likely to be a long one.

Me and three of my friends hit up the Velvet Room on a Friday night. We went after midnight and there was a short line.We all felt that we should have charged security for the cavity check she performed to let us in. However, the deejay was on point and the cocktails were a bit high, but they had plenty of alcohol so it was worth it. We had a good time and I didn't feel the club was ghetto.
