by S S. on Came here with my buddy Liam several years ago after attending the showing of Brotherhood at the Tribeca Film Festival. We posted up at the end of the bar and camped out for a couple of hours and had an amazing time. I forgot about this place and stumbled across it the other night. It is another perfect NYC bar, and one of the oldest dating back to 1817...just my style! Service was quick and we were well attended to the entire time we were there. Very cozy feel. Cool matchbooks with two blank music bars in case you feel like composing. Also has a huge ship mooring hook outside...makes for a cool place to set your drink!
by Sammy Selzler on we tried going here last night on a double date. bar atmosphere combined with bowling sounded like a good time. we head up to the desk and look into the place...not a soul there besides the workers. we asked for a lane where we got the response, "we're all reserved". We look around the corner at all the lanes and the bar area (again, not a soul) and asked, well, when's the next available lane. "10:30", okay, well maybe we'll put our name in. "well, it get's really expensive after 10:30, like $100 an hour or something..." It took me awhile to figure it out, but I guess the kids working there just didn't want me to bowl there for some reason. Too bad, seemed like we could've had a really cool time there.
by Leandro Enwright on When you walk into the unmarked door to Halo, it doesn't feel like you're in Atlanta anymore. It has the look and feel of a high end lounge that's hidden in plain sight. The prices are higher, the music is louder, and the interior is nicer than almost any lounge in Atlanta. It's a good place to go if you're not into the cheap beer and jukebox scene. I've never been when Halo is packed, primarily since I would go when a friend was spinning, and he never got the prime time slots. Surprisingly, Halo has one of the best cheese plates in the city. I know, that sounds crazy (and a little odd for me to be talking about cheese plates) but it's true. It goes very well with the wines on the menu.
