by Annmarie Mulanax on *** Met friends here last Wed nite .... *** The two babes entered first w/o a problem. But then suddenly there's a BIG problem? Apparently so. My buddy wore Skechers, kinda like sneakers. Doorman stops him. Doorman (DM): "What are those"? Buddy (BD): "Wah"? (Doorman points to shoes.) DM: "No gym shoes allowed"! BD: "Wah"? Me: "Ha, let's get the girls and go" ... o_O BD: "I don't wanna go". DM: "Listen, ok, I'll let you in THIS time but DO NOT ever let this happen again"! BD: "Ok". Me: "Wtf"?!? BD: "Ok, let's join the girls". *_* So Edison is a bit swanky, but since when does a dumb ass doorman get off talking to a grown 30-something man like that? Frankly, that's reprehensible. There's no way I would ret'n here for such nonsense. Btw, my buddy is a fin'l broker! Stupid LA club-like mentality seems to run this place. Bunch of sportcoat clad lames wannabe hip. Attitude is the last thing I need when relaxing. *** Eek, me thinks not ... life is too short. ***
by Chris P. on I'm sure if you're a local and in tune with the NYC Jazz scene there are better places to be, but as a visitor I really enjoyed my Jazz Brunch at the Blue Note. The music was incredible. It's great to be able to be mere feet away from such musical virtuosity in an intimate venue like this. It really is somewhat of a cave, but that just adds to the atmosphere. The food and drink were good if not amazing, and at $25 for brunch plus over an hour of music seems like a pretty good value to me. Clearly the clientele here is largely tourists, of which I am admittedly one, but that didn't stop us from having a lovely time. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the village.
