Oh, the aquarium. You are sadly a disappointment to me. I was a member for a year and really tried to like you. For all the hype, this could have been such a wonderful addition to the city. But once again, Atlanta had to go all commercial. There is so much signage plastered up inside with subtle advertising slogans, so many blaring colors it hurts the eyes. This place is a sensory overload from the get-go. Why, why do we have to give a microphone to a volunteer to point out everything in the exhibit at the big picture window? It would be so serene to just sit and watch the beautiful display and let it speak for itself. It truly is amazing to see the ocean as if you were scuba diving in it. There are pictures posted, if you really wanted to know what a particular animal was you could check yourself. Or ask the volunteer. Don't give the volunteers carte blanche to assault everyone with noise pollution! The building is designed in a wagon wheel spoke fashion so traffic can't properly move. You always end up back in the middle of the place along with everyone else! If you suffer from claustrophobia or vertigo, do not go through the tunnel to see under the ocean voyager exhibit - you will get sick. And it gets stuffy in there anyway with so many people. I was very upset to learn the 3D Deepo show actually spits water on you! I had a child with me who became very disconcerted at this - a little heads up to the audience would have been nice! The one thing that is very cool is the touch tank. The sharks and sting rays swim in this shallow tank and you can touch them with two fingers (if they're not on a swim break, that is). The belugas are also a cool exhibit - but again, why the microphone?! There has been too much redesign and shuffling of exhibits since the opening - without proper notification to the visitors. It's been frustrating that this location is clearly designed for tourists and not for those who would be valuable to have in its membership base. Maybe I was spoiled by frequent visits to the Baltimore aquarium. Maybe I should have visited during one of their jazz nights and I would have a different opinion of the place. But for now, I'll make the drive to Chattanooga where the exhibits are actually designed with windows so everything can be seen by the people walking by. And no one has microphones!

Non. Stop. Dance. Party. Just do it. Pick up the phone and make a brunch reservation. You'll enjoy a lively crowd, bottomless mimosas and a perfect environment for a group celebration. Make that rezzie and arrive on time! We were 15 minutes late for our 1pm reservations on Saturday. Luckily, we were seated only 20 minutes later. What we ordered: - Jumpstart Spark Plugs (a shot of chilled espresso, vanilla vodka, and kahlua) --- we had about five rounds! - French Toast (cinnamon french toast topped with maple syrup and butter) - Pancakes (3 pancakes filled with chocolate chips and topped with bananas and whipped cream) - Bottomless Mimosas (obviously) By the end of a fun-filled, tipsy brunch, you'll be asking yourself...what time is it?! At 5pm, it was time for us to move the party to the next venue!
